31 and counting....

Yes “the KID” survived his 31st Birthday and would like to thank everyone for the birthday well wishing, especially Janna’s attempt to call his cell phone (guess my cell plan doesn’t accept international calls) Anyway “the KID” has much to report but is a little short on time, so please be patient as he regroups from his week long birthday festival…seeya

Natalie Holloway

“the KID” has learned that Aruban authorities have detained a group sharks believed to have eaten Ms Holloway over a year ago.  The sharks will be held in custody until they quote "rat-out" the individuals who feed Ms Holloway to them….

Happy Easter

Three Roman soldiers are in a drinking-place at eleven o’clock at night.  There are barrels around the wall.  Behind the wooden counter is a Hebrew wine-seller.  The three Roman soldiers are a little cock-eyed.

1st Roman Soldier ---- You tried the red?

2nd Soldier ---- No, I ain’t tried it.

1st Soldier ---- You better try it.

2nd Soldier ---- All right, George, we’ll have a round of the red.

Hebrew Wine Seller ---- Here you are, gentlemen.  You’ll like that.  {he sets down an earthenware pitcher that he has filled from one of the casks.} That’s a nice little wine.

1st Soldier ---- Have a drink of it yourself. {he turns to the third Roman soldier who is leaning on a barrel.} What’s the matter with you?

3rd Roman Soldier ---- I got a gut-ache.

2nd Soldier ---- You’ve been drinking water.

1st Soldier ---- Try some the red.

2nd Soldier ---- I can’t drink the damn stuff. It makes my gut sour.

1st Soldier ---- You been out there too long.

3rd Soldier ---- Hell, don’t I know it?

1st Soldier ---- Say, George, can’t you give this gentleman something to fix up his stomach?

Hebrew Wine-seller ---- I got it right here.

{The third Roman soldier tastes the cup that the wine-seller has mixed for him.}

3rd Soldier ---- Hey, what you put in that, camel chips?

 Wine-seller ---- You drink that right down, Lootenant. That’ll fix you right up.

3rd Soldier ---- Well, I couldn’t feel any worse.

1st Soldier ---- Take a chance on it. George fixed me up fine the other day.

Wine-seller ---- You were in bad shape, Lootenant. I know what fixes up a bad stomach.

{The third Roman soldier drinks the cup down.}

3rd Roman Soldier ---- Jesus Christ. {He makes a face.}

2nd Soldier ---- False alarm!

1st Soldier ---- Oh, I don’t know. He was pretty good in there today.

2nd Soldier ---- Why didn’t he come down off the cross?

1st Soldier ---- He didn’t want to come down off the cross.  That’s not his play.

2nd Soldier ---- Show me a guy that doesn’t want to come down off the cross.

1st Soldier ---- Aw, hell, you don’t know anything about it.  Ask George there.  Did he want to come down off the cross, George?

Wine-seller ---- I’ll tell you gentlemen, I wasn’t out there. It’s a thing I haven’t any interest in.

2nd Soldier ---- Listen, I seen a lot of them ---- here and plenty of other places.  Any time show me one that doesn’t want to get down off the cross when the time comes ---- when the time comes, I mean ---- I’ll climb right up with him.

1st Soldier ---- I thought he was pretty good in there today.

3rd Soldier ---- He was all right.

2nd Roman Soldier ---- You guys don’t know what I’m talking about.  I’m not saying whether he was good or not.  What I mean is, when the time comes. When they first start nailing him, there isn’t none of them wouldn’t stop it if they could.

1st Soldier ---- Didn’t you follow it, George?

Wine-seller ---- No, I didn’t take any interest in it, Lootenant.

1st Soldier ---- I was surprised how he acted.

3rd Soldier ---- The part I don’t like is the nailing them on.  You know, that must get to you pretty bad.

2nd ---- It isn’t that that’s so bad, as when they first lift ‘em up {he makes a lifting gesture with his two palms together}

When the weight starts to pull on ‘em. That’s when it gets ‘em

Today's post is short but anything but simple.  What should the United States and/or the United Nations do about the current situation in Iran?

Happy and finally content...for now at least

  "Happiness in intelligent people is the rarest thing I know."
Ernest Hemingway

So “the KID” just hasn’t been feeling like himself as of late. Maybe it's because he’s had a lot on his mind or maybe it's because he's been working so much lately.  In any case, he hasn’t had much time for contemplation.  See one of “the KID’s” favorite things to do is just sit around and think.   I guess you would say he likes to let his mind wonder form thought-to-thought or what some call daydreaming.  As usual, I digress from my main points or questions, if you will.

Now  as most of you already know, a couple of week’s ago “the KID” decided not to complete or start for that matter his law education or law school process. Also as most of you already know,  he’s decided not to enlist in the Army, Navy or any other branch of the Armed Forces.  “the KID’s” also decided he’s not going to be going to truck driving school.  Nope he’s just going to live in this little small town 10 miles west of Charlotte, the town of which he grew up.

"the KID" is going to work towards building a career in the automobile sales industry and hopefully one day become a professional poker player.  Now it should be noted that “the KID’s” not necessarily making these choices because they’re his only options.  Rather he’s decided to do what he’s good at and what makes him “happy” at this point in his life. Again "the KID's" what they call a natural salesman, he’s got the gift of gab and is just trying to use his god given talents to service our great society as best he can. Why fight the system, right?  Just do what you're good at…

I think one of the most interesting things about my most recent life path decision has been the reaction of my friends and family members.  Both online and in-person, more times than not, they make the following comment  “we’re glad you’ve finally found something that makes you happy" or some say "we’re glad you’re content.”

So here's the question, is being happy and being content the same?  “the KID” thinks maybe happiness is just a degree of contentment.   Possibly happiness is the highest degree of contentment.  But then again, isn’t being content mostly about learning your (what’s the word) I know.... about learning what your limitations in life are.

Is't maturing and accepting reality a factor of happiness and is't happiness tied to security, security with your relationships, with your spirituality and with your finances…Stop dreaming and start living in the real world is what people have told “the KID” his entire life.   Well "the KID" (like Socrates) would like to ask, "what is happiness?" and finally who the hell really cares, after all it's only  temporary just like every other emotion…seeya  “the KID”

Katie Couric

NEW YORK - Katie Couric is risking her television legacy to leave NBC’s “Today” show and anchor the CBS evening news - as a new poll shows that people would rather watch her in the morning.
     Asked if they prefer to see Couric in her longtime role as anchor of “Today” or on the evening news, 49 percent chose mornings and 29 percent said evening news, an AP-TV Guide poll found.
     But the poll suggests that Couric, who announced Wednesday that she’s leaving “Today” after 15 years, is making a transition at a good time because no TV news anchors dominate the public’s attention. More than half of those polled, 55 percent, said they have a favorable view of Couric. That’s comparable to the favorable opinions of NBC’s Brian Williams, CBS’s Bob Schieffer and higher than ABC’s Elizabeth Vargas.

So it looks as if Katie Curic will be leaving the "Today" show and will become the nightly news anchor for CBS.... which got “the KID” thinking the following:

1)      How do you get your news?  Print, TV, Internet?  If TV what network if any do you prefer?

2)      “the KID” would also like your opinions on Katie Curic both professionally and hot or not opinions.
